The customer said it was old and leaking

The 8196 came in on a pallet with years of service behind it. Before a wrench touches anything, the pump gets photographed as received and logged against its nameplate, so every finding that follows can be traced back to the condition it walked in with.

Stripped to the last o‑ring

The pump comes apart completely — no partial teardowns, because a leak path is rarely where the customer thinks it is. Every component is laid out, measured, and photographed.

The casing bore told the story immediately: heavy scale and pitting well past the point where a machining pass would save it. The impeller vanes were buried in rust, the seal faces were worn, and the shaft had lost its finish.

New casing, new shaft, and everything else blasted clean

A Chesterton 1810 Heavy Duty cartridge seal and a Summit shaft kit went in alongside the new casing. The frame adapter, bearing frame, and impeller were media blasted back to bare metal to strip the rust build‑up rather than paint over it.

The impeller was then balanced — the difference between a pump that simply runs and a pump that runs true and doesn't eat its new bearings.

Assembly Build to spec

Built back up by the same hands that took it apart

Shaft into the bearing frame, bearings pressed and seated, cartridge seal set, then the wet end closed up. One technician owns the job from teardown to test, so nothing gets lost in a handoff.

Hydrostatic Pressure Test Before delivery

It proves itself here, not at your plant

Every assembled pump is hydrostatically tested in the shop. The wet end is filled, pressurised, and held for 30 minutes while we watch for weeps at the seal, the case gasket, and every joint. Once passed, the pump is tagged with the approved test results and the technician's signature. The pump does not go on the truck until it passes the test.
